Waspmote is an open source wireless sensor platform specially focused on the implementation of low consumption modes which allows the sensor nodes ("motes") to be completely autonomous, that is battery powered. Lifetime of Waspmote sensor nodes may go from 1 to 5 years depending on the duty cycle and the radio used.
GPRS/GSM (SIM900) offers GPRS connection to your Waspmote.
It includes the SIM900 communication module from SIMCom and an antenna in order to establish a communication.
You can send SMS, make calls or create TCP and UDP sockets in order to send the information to the Internet. HTTP and FTP protocols are also available in order to send the information to the cloud directly from your Waspmote.
You will need batteries to use Waspmote as an autonomous device.
